Raul Castillo retires after 30+ years serving youth
On December 18th, the Boys & Girls Club of Vista along with City of Vista Mayor Judy Ritter and Councilmember Corinna Contreras, recognized Raul Castillo for his career serving youth in our community. Raul was also recognized with proclamations from the County of San Diego presented by Vice-Chairman Jim Desmond, the Honorable, Tasha Boerner Horvath 76th Assembly District, and the United States House of Representatives Member of Congress 49th District California, Mike Levin. WHEREAS, Raul Castillo, Director of Operations, of the Boys & Girls Club of Vista is retiring after 30 years. He has served as an inspiration and role model fo ryouth working at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista and San DIeguito by providing safe, positive, and inclusive environments for youth to learn and grow; and
WHEREAS, Raul Castillo has been a pillar of our community since joining the Boys & Girls Club of Vista in 2008 providing dedicated support and positive guidance for Vista Club members, families, staff and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Raul Castillo is a credit to the Vista community; he has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the benefits of Boys & Girls Clubs by offering experiences that offer hope, a sense of belonging, and a purpose for Club members and opportunities for youth to lead, share ideas, be heard and recognized; and
WHEREAS, the Vista City Council wishes to offer its sincere appreciation to Raul Castillo for making a valuable contribution to our community and the 9,000 youth that have passed through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Vista’s doors under Raul’s leadership.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and members of the Vista City Council commend Raul Castillo for his commitment to helping others and bettering the community, and do hereby proclaim Friday, December 18, 2020 as: Raul Castillo Day
