Summer Camp Re-Cap - Animal Planet

Animal Planet Week has come and gone here at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista!!  Check out what you missed!

Club members kicked off the week with a field trip to Alta Vista Gardens chaperoned by Mr. Jose and Ms. Naomi. Our members got to walk through and experience the beautiful botanical gardens where they got to learn what it takes to preserve all of their wonderful exotic plant species. On Tuesday, Club members made toy kendamas that looked like frogs and finished up their animal mosaics with Miss True. Mr. Danny hosted an intense 10 versus 10 capture the flag ending in a 4-3 score! On Wednesday, Club members attended Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center to view the extraordinary collection of hands-on exhibits, gardens, and live animal ambassadors allowing visitors to “taste nature”! On Thursday Club members brought their all for crazy hair day and face painting! Ms. Christine’s group had a blast finishing up the cars that they’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks, she even started helping those who have their cars structured decorate them for the race later this week! Our Career Launch Club members took a trip to the Solana Beach Environmental Center to learn about zero waste, composting, and water conservation, ensuring that they have the tools needed to make sure our planet stays alive. Mr. Noah’s Teen group also did a comic strip activity where members were tasked with making and sharing the stories that they created. He followed up this activity with gym time, a Club member favorite! To end the week, our Club members got to enjoy water day! For water day, Club members enjoyed a relay race, played with water guns, and even got to go down the slip and slide, some even attended the Wave Waterpark. What a perfect way to end a hot summer week!
