Paul Eckert Memorial
The Boys & Girls Club of Vista is saddened that long time Boys & Girls Club of Vista volunteer, Paul Eckert recently passed away at the age 88. Paul was an original Board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Vista and heavily involved in the Boys & Girls Club of Vista since the 1960’s. Thanks to Paul’s phenomenal dedicated support, the Boys & Girls Club thrived and expanded from 1 site to 5 sites. Club CEO Matt Koumaras calls Paul “A true legend and a champion for Vista kids.” Paul loved to lead and involve the community in many successful fundraisers such as the Octoberfest and St. Patrick’s Day events over the years leading to many great futures. Paul served as the Boys & Girls Club of Vista Board Chair and was instrumental in creating the Boys & Girls Club of Vista’s community room. Paul was passionate about music and helped to fund free music lessons for Club members. A commercial kitchen was renovated and named in Paul’s honor in 2014. Paul’s late wife, Diane, was also very involved in the Club serving on the Women’s Auxiliary. Both were members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Jeremiah Millbank Society which is an exclusive philanthropy circle created for exceptional major donors. Paul’s warm smile, memorable laugh and kind heart will certainly be missed at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista.
