1st Annual Kids Night Out

October 20th, 2022

One kind and caring community members sponsored one of our Club members to participate in activities throughout the Club. Before they got started on their games and activities, they shared a meal together thanks to the Panda Cares Foundation where they got to chat and get to know each other. And we can’t forget the cupcakes! sponsored by Dr. Victoria Littlefield-Waufle.

For Arts & Crafts, each mentor and Club member created a spooky collage. A winner for most artistic pair was selected at the end of the night. Thank you to Mary Clark for sponsoring the craft project!

For STEM, they carved out mini pumpkins to build their very best Pumpkin Boat. The goal was to work as a team and get their boat to float! Thank you to Christine Chacon, Boys & Girls Club of Vista Foundation Trustee for sponsoring the Pumpkin Activity!

In the Music Room, teams played “Name That Spooky Tune” where they heard just a few seconds of songs. We really tested their range by playing songs from Thriller to This is Halloween to Monster Mash and more. Winners for the best sportsmanship will be awarded at the end of the night.

In the Games room, there were two games to complete: Ping Pong toss and Baseball Pool. Ping Pong toss is a simple Ping Pong toss. Bounce the ping pong across the table and into the cups. The cups closest to you are worth 1 point and the cups farthest are worth 3. Each team member takes a turn to earn as many points as possible. Baseball pool was set up with pool balls around the pool table. Each mentor and Club member had 3 shots to try and hit as many balls as they could into the pockets. Each team member took a turn to earn as many points as possible—1 point each for each ball in the pocket. Games Room Champions were announced at the end of the night for the team with the highest score. Thank you to Pepper Tree Frosty and Dr. & Mrs. Koumaras for being Games Room Sponsors.

Lastly, in the Gym teams worked together to make a basket in each of the hoops plus a final basket from each team member at the final basket. The goal was to be the fastest to make a basket in each hoop. The the team with the most perseverance won an award at the end of the night.
