Academic Success

Our Academic Success programs engage members in high-quality academic programing that supports school day learning and enables youth to be effective, engaged learners who are on track for graduation with a plan for their future.

Power Hour/Project Learn

Power Hour helps Boys & Girls Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework support, tutoring and technology engaged activities.

Words Alive!

The purpose of Words Alive is to make reading matter – truly matter – for young people and families in every community in San Diego and beyond, so they have the power to write their own stories. When you become a reader, especially as a young child during crucial stages of brain development, our lives change.

LEGO Engineers

LEGO Engineers believes that LEGOs are a great way to excite children about problem solving and innovative thinking. For schools that are unable to implement instructional programs during the school day, LEGO Engineers club is a fantastic way to engage children in engineering design challenges.

Code Ninjas

Members can become Code Ninjas! Kids love technology, games, and having fun with friends. Kids learn to code through our engaging game-based curriculum that teaches teamwork, logic, math, and problem solving. They gain vital skills while having a blast. Coding experts will be teaching your kids to code, which is a great skill to have in this day and age.

Paper Circuitry

This course will cover the fundamentals of circuit building through fun interactive activities with four simple but effective materials: copper tape, card stock, LEDs, and 2032 coin batteries. Birthday cards will never be the same, neither will the members who’ll discover the multitude of ways to brighten their day through circuitry.

STEM

This Club is set up for members to reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. Members will be engaged in STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed. Kids will learn how to solve problems, develop critical-thinking skills, become comfortable with failure and trying again, learn to work successfully in teams, develop self-confidence, and be able to see themselves in STEM careers.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club is designed for members to become more fluent in the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Members are given opportunities to learn about or experience aspects of Spanish/Hispanic and Latino culture. They also discover the dynamics of Spanish/Hispanic and Latino culture in the US.
