Maytag Feel Good Fridge Program

Millions of children do not have access to healthy food, and the pandemic made the situation even worse. In fact, a 2020 study saw that 27.5 percent of households with children are food insecure, which means about 14 million children in the US are not getting enough to eat. Maytag believes dependability starts with ensuring that all Americans have access to their most basic needs. That’s why Maytag is working with Boys & Girls Clubs of America through the Maytag Feel Good Fridge program, helping give kids and families dependable access to healthy food.

The Maytag® Feel Good Fridge is a refrigerator that is stocked with healthy food for Boys & Girls Club kids and their families to take when in need. Since the program launched in October 2021, each Maytag® Feel Good Fridge has helped provide healthy food to an estimated 120 Club kids each day. Nationwide, the program helps benefit over 1,500 Club kids per day. Currently, there are 30 Maytag Feel Good Fridges in Clubs across the country with an additional 10 fridges being placed by the end of 2022 (we are one of those)!

Family Night Celebrating Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month

Thanks to the Maytag Feel Good Fridge, we were able to keep our agua frescas and ceviche donated by Northgate Market fresh for our Club families to enjoy during our Club Family Night celebrating Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month in October of this year. Additionally, we purchase traditional food from local businesses such as Martinez Bakery and Ortiz Bakery to provide a hot meal that featured tamales and empanadas; Northgate Market also donated a taco bar to top off this evening of celebration!

Thanksgiving Baskets for Club Families

The Boys & Girls Club of Vista’s Maytag Feel Good Fridge is making a difference for our Club families this holiday season by taking the stress out of a special family meal! We were able to support 10 Club families by providing ingredients for a Thanksgiving Feast made up of traditional dishes such as sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls, a pie, sparkling cider, and even a gift card to purchase a turkey that’s just right for their family. Thanks to the Feel Good Fridge we were able to keep their milk, butter, carrots, green beans, onions, celery, and more fresh for pick-up leading up to the holiday.

When our volunteers and donors heard about the Maytag Feel Good Fridge, they wanted to help too. We received donations of gift cards, canned goods, and reusable produce bags to help us serve more families more food.

Embrace-a-Family

Our Embrace a Family Program is a time for the community to come together to support our Club families during the holidays, due to the generosity of the Maytag Feel Good Fridge Program, it motivated and excited others to give to the program.
